The 1,000,000 Gold Plan

10/1/2016

I follow a lot of gold making guides that talk about gold per hour farming mostly. And the more I learn, what I'm starting to realize is by only thinking of the short term goal (day-to-day or hourly), I'm really limiting myself from a much larger range of potential gold profits. So far, I've been able to earn about 20,000 - 50,000 gold from an hour's worth of farming. For my next goal, I'm no longer going to be looking at my profits on a hourly scale.

Finally broke 400k, but unfortunately in order for my new strategy to meet its goal, I needed to invest in a few "business upgrades".

I decided to buy the Sky Golem because it allows me to harvest my herbs without having to dismount! Which is amazing if you're an herbalist! Last week, on my realm, they were going for over 300k gold in the Auction House. The engineering community was ecstatic! So what did they do next? They flooded the market with these babies, and after a week of undercutting one another, I was able to buy mine for about 125k.

My next upgrade purchase was an enchant scroll called Legion Herbalism. Now normally, I believe it's like a 3.5 - 5 second "cast" when gathering herbs. Well with this enchant, it only takes 1 second (literally) and it only costed me about 600 gold. The next upgrade I acquired was purchased from the Dreamweavers (Sylvia Hartshorn to be exact). It's called Boon of the Harvester and it basically gives me a chance to loot  Harvested Goods, which can contain extra herbs!

Now I wanted to see how well my investments would perform. Typically, after an hour of farming, I'd only have a single stack of 200 Starlight Rose. I essentially doubled my gathering capabilities, as you can see! And also typically, I'd run straight to the nearest Auction House and throw them all up for sale, wake up in the morning and collect my gold...

Let's look at the numbers:
Avg. Price Per Item: 150g
Avg. Price Per 200 Stack: 30,000g
Avg. Gathered Per Hour: 300
Total Hours to Gather (1,000,000g): 22

Keep in mind, this isn't a gold-per-hour guide. So whatever you do, don't sell a single Starlight Rose until you get 22 full (200) stacks! And even then, you don't just want to throw them all up on the Auction House. That will crash the market and prices with crash. What I recommend, is once a day, head over to the Auction House, look up the prices for Starlight Rose, and take a screenshot. Now you'll want to do this for about a week. Basically what you're doing is building a seven day analysis and with this information you'll notice that Auction House prices rise and fall just like the stock market. But there will be one day where the prices are at their peak, and that's the day you want to sell (in increments of 200).

Discipline, patience, and knowledge is the true path to wealth.
